How to use forums.
I do like reading getpaidforum.com. It has grown nicely over the years, expanding its reach to include subforums on different ways of making money, apart from the standard get paid to read email programs.
So for newbies, just a hint. Look at the forums and take note of the number of replies to a post. If the post title is a simple question, and has a few replies, then the problem has probably been answered easily by someone helpful. But if the number of replies is over 20, then this is a hot topic, and one to take note of. It's amazing how many program owners do questionable things, and then you find out the number of other programs they own.
It's also always good to see the latest post on "top programs for the month".
And also lists of programs according to some criteria, for example top programs not requiring a downline, or top programs using paypal, or top programs with no minimum payment.
Have fun. Visit it before you plan the amount of effort or advertising for a new program. Remember getpaidforum.com

February update.
Well, there's still a storm around Stormpay. But logically, it was caused when PTR programs started dropping them, because nobody wants to be restricted to one payment processor. So that left people with money in Stormpay that they couldn't use to buy advertising on PTRs.
A survey at http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/are_you_still_clicking_stormclix_-t430137-s30.html asked whether people were still clicking ads at Stormpay. When I checked, it was around 50-50. So half of the subscribers either didn't realise they couldn't easily redeem their earnings, or else they were happy with the idea of a cheque being mailed to them. I'll keep waiting until it turns into an amount worth cashing over here in Australia.
PAID TO PROMOTE seems to be the most popular way to earn these days, as compared to traditional Paid to Read emails. Closely followed by AUTOSURFS. Although from the thread http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/your_best_way_to_get_paid-t423278-s15.html about the best ways to get paid, there seem to be a lot of happy people combining Stormclix, PTP and Autosurfs.
This thread http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/paid_to_promote-t431401.html provides some useful tips on using Paid To Promote programs.
An always popular question is which programs pay with Paypal. Find a list at http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/ptrs_with_paypal-t428769.html
WolfEmails finally gave up trying to cope with the long payout queues, amidst some unpleasant comments about the veracity of the owners.
So it's time to review the sites I'm a member of. Especially since I had problems with zwallet, and went inactive on a few sites.

Stormpay has been featured in the forums lately at http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/the_facts_about_the_owners_of_stormpay_and_netiba-t425781.html
There was a fair kerfuffle when they announced on 31 Jan that they would no longer process payments for merchants who had more than one payment processor. Eg if a program allowed paypal, egold and stormpay. Many programs were unimpressed, and deleted Stormpay as an option. There was also talk of delays to payments.
By coincidence one of the regular newsletters I subscribe to announced it as a legitimate problem, where fraudulent customers were doing one transaction through one payment processor, and reversing it through another, making it hard to track.
Regardless, there were transactions waiting for me when I went to Stormclix, and I'm not NetIBA certified.
That NetIBA and Stormpay are owned by the same person is more of a concern.
I'll wait and see if I get paid. Although I'm only at $8, not being overly active.

So it's the new year, and time to round up the performance for 2005.
Votes were taken for PTR and PTC of the year, at http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/site_of_the_year-t410889.html, and the winners were AdPaid and 5StarPromotions.
One member summarised their activities over the last two months at http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/my_get_paid_industry_experience-t416148.html, with a nice list of which programs performed best in their experience.
Another thread discusses programs that were worth upgrading in at http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/my_get_paid_industry_experience-t416148.html. This would have been very useful when I first started out - I upgraded at paidbizopmail just before it died. I didn't know about getpaidforum back then.

Top October programs.
This thread at GetPaidForum shows the results of the top GPTRs for October.
The winners being GainPay, Class-Act-Click and GainMail.
PolarPTR and Wolfemails are still doing well. Mind you, YourPTR and AYS are still getting votes from someone, even with the incredible year-plus payment wait at AYS.
The big news on October 21 was the disappearance of YourPTR. Kaput - it vanished. The owner was unable to be contacted. Stories of hosting being unpaid, and overdue payment, with personal problems by the owner, surfaced at this thread, which went on for 69 pages at the time I write this. THe consensus is that YourPTR is dead. An amazing turnaround for a once popular program.

Aak. Time passes so quickly.
Most of the action on the forum today was related to StormPay's new paid-to-click program StormClix. This is the first time (to my knowledge) that a payment processor has had a PTC program, so things are really buzzing.
One thread had a poll for the amount people were earning each day from StormClix. At the time I checked, 48 people had replied to http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/index.php?&act=ST&f=1&t=385041&mode=show&st= with the most common earnings being between 30c and $1.50 per day. That's much better than the average PTR or PTC, so people are happy.
It is also a good way for StormPay to get people visiting their site.
Although people are curious about the relationship between StormPay and NetIBA. NetIBA is an identification service that StormPay seems to recommend, especially if you want to withdraw your StormPay money via debit card. The strange thing is that both programs are registered to the same town in the US. With one poster concerned that StormPay has his credit card number, and NetIBA having his identification details (address and phone), together that can be scary.
Just keeping you informed.

There's a new survey company around called Planet Pulse.
They actually contacted me directly, offering an affiliate program, which is relatively rare for survey companies. You can earn by referring people, as well as for doing surveys. They reward the surveys in points, known as pulses, where 100 pulses equals $1. Even doing a pre-qualifying screen for a survey will earn 20 pulses, so you don't waste your time for nothing.

And yet another month has flown by.
The winners for the most popular PTRs of the August, has some of my favourites at positions 1, 3 and 6: GainPay, PolarPTR and Wolfemails.
I do have to say that GainPay is basically searches, which is not really up my alley, but seems to be what people want. It has been #1 for 3 months in a row now.
The feedback on PolarPTR was that it too has a lot of searches, although I manage to stay a member without doing any - and if you want to earn fastest, do searches, and the PTP (paid to promote) advertising. Feedback was that people are very impressed with the quick payouts.
Wolfemails had a brief hiccup with their domain name, and have (possibly temporarily) been using wolfemails.net instead of .com until it gets fixed. The good news was that I decided they were worth rejoining after my accidental inactivity, and they rewarded me with some extra signups. Definitely a nice lady in charge at Wolfemails. She was amazingly honest in a thread comparing PolarPTR with Wolfemails, but also steps in to defend the truth. Well done. And thank you.
And I really do have to say, the best way to earn is to build a website, sell something, and display Google Adsense ads. It really rocks.
cheers
Chris
